Our Leadership Team
Armin Ernst, M.D., M.H.C. M.
Chief Executive Officer
Dr Ernst is a Harvard-trained and globally-renowned pulmonologist with seven textbooks and over 200 manuscripts to his credit. He obtained his Healthcare Management degree from Harvard University and, before joining Vitals Global Healthcare, held clinical and administrative leadership roles in major academic medical centers, large integrated hospital based systems, and ambulatory care settings in the United States.
Mark Lisher MSc, AAIA, AFA/MIPA
Chief Financial Officer
Mr Lisher is a finance professional with over 25 years’ experience. He has occupied a number of Director and CFO positions in contracting, program management and finance in various sectors and industries. Mr Lisher has worked in healthcare environments for the last 14 years, in a variety of positions within the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom. He is a qualified accountant and has a Master’s Degree in Management (MSc Management) from the University of South Wales.
Chief Information Officer
Mr Singh brings over 25 years of global technology leadership experience to VGH. Throughout his work life he has navigated major transformational efforts at various stages of organizational growth. He has led large global organizations as CIO, including Genpact – a GE company, and Walmart India.
John Bezzina MCIPD
Human Resources Director
Mr Bezzina brings over 30 years of experience to VGH, including 17 years in Human Resources at one of the world’s leading banks. He has worked in Malta, Paris and London, and has held senior positions in both Human Resources and Risk Management.
Mr Bezzina sat on the National Council of the Malta Employers’ Association for three years and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Alessandra Pace B.A. (Hons), M.A.
Ms Pace graduated from the University of Malta with a Bachelor’s Degree in European Studies and Communications, followed by a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Brunel University in London. She has worked at the European Parliament, the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of Malta, and, more recently, as Communications Manager at one of the leading PR agencies in Malta.
Mina Popova MSc., PhD
Head of Quality and Patient Safety
Dr Popova graduated from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, and was later awarded a PhD from the Faculty of Public Health within the Medical University of Sofia. She specialized in healthcare management at George Washington University in Washington DC, and health economics at University of York, UK.
Before joining VGH, Dr Popova held the position of director at the Executive Agency for Medical Audit. Under her leadership, quality and patient safety became part of the national agenda, and she spearheaded the first JCI accreditation of a Bulgarian hospital.
Director of Nursing
Tess joins VGH with experience in academia, program development, quality and safety compliance management, and corporate leadership and management.
Prior to working at Vitals Global Healthcare, Tess worked within the Partners Healthcare International system in Boston.
Tess received her Doctor in Nursing Practice in University of Massachusetts Amherst with a focus in Public Health Nursing Leadership, working with the resettled refugees at Providence, RI USA and is also involved in international humanitarian work, as a consultant and disaster nurse.
Nadine Delicata, M.D., M.B.A., M.P.H.
CEO VGH Gozo General Hopsital & VP Operations
Dr Delicata graduated as a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Malta followed by specialization in Public Health and an MBA from Maastricht University. Dr Delicata has worked closely with the Director General of Health Care Services within the Ministry for Health, including on EU and international exposure, legislation, and financial and strategic planning. In 2007 Dr Delicata was entrusted with the development of a National Breast Cancer Screening Program, followed by the successful roll-out of a National Colorectal Cancer Screening Program in 2011.
Dr Delicata has been Chief Executive Officer of the Gozo General Hospital since 2013.
Stephen M. Zammit, M.D., D.spec. PRM
CEO VGH Karin Grech Hospital & St Luke's Hospital
Dr Zammit graduated as a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Malta followed by specialization in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.
He has been CEO of Karin Grech Hospital since January 2014, leading a team of professionals in providing rehabilitation care for patients of all ages, while focusing on specialized Geriatric care as a continuation of the well-renowned Zammit Clapp Hospital.
Dr Zammit is Malta’s representative to the Union of European Medical specialists in the field of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. He is a founding member of the Malta Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Association, and is an internationally-recognized expert in his field.
Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry is a faculty of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), one of the three largest colleges of the University of London, and a member of the prestigious Russell Group.
QMUL has around 20,000 students enrolled on a wide range of programmes including sciences, arts, engineering, law and social science degrees.
