Head of Pharmaceutical Services for VGH Gozo General Hospital

Vitals Global Healthcare is recruiting a Head of Pharmaceutical Services to join the VGH Gozo General Hospital team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidates will be responsible for all Pharmacy Department employees of the Gozo General Hospital.  General duties include:

  • Responsible for the coordination of the strategic management of GGH Pharmacy services including planning, organising, directing, staffing and controlling all aspects of the pharmacy practice through the development of the pharmacy team to deliver clinically effective and efficient services;
  • Developing and maintaining the hospital pharmacy budget for operations, personnel, medications, and capital equipment;
  • Coordination of the functions of the pharmacy management team to support the pharmacy practice model, clinical programs, regulatory compliance, including JCI requirements, information systems and technology, education, business activities and procurement practices;
  • Supporting the quality use of medicines through collaborative working with both internal and external customers;
  • Working closely with the medical, nursing, and support staff on pharmacy¬†related programs and services;
  • Developing and maintaining operational reports and dashboards, and ensuring that the pharmacy department operates within budget and meets agreed financial and clinical performance targets;
  • Ensuring compliance with all local and regulatory agency regulations and standards.

The successful candidates must:

  • Be registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of Malta;
  • Have a Minimum of five (5) years of Hospital Pharmacy experience, and ideally at a managerial level;
  • Demonstrate the ability to co-ordinate projects and team members, to achieve desired outcomes over short to medium time frames, where all stakeholders are satisfied with the outcomes and the processes used;
  • Prove time management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, and forward planning;
  • Possess excellent verbal communication skills especially when dealing with difficult and sensitive issues with key stakeholders including clinical service development, presentations and educational seminars, in a manner that enhances the long-term relationship with all stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and coach a team to achieve set outcomes and desired behaviours;
  • Demonstrate a commitment towards expanding and developing initiative, self-management and problem-solving skills and to participate in continuing education programs to encourage personal development and improved customer services.
