Senior Data Analyst – VGH Gozo General Hospital

Vitals Global Healthcare is looking to recruit a Senior Data Analyst to form part of the Business Intelligence Unit on full-time basis at the Gozo General Hospital. General duties include:
• Bringing a fresh approach to improving existing business intelligence within the department;
• Extracting, transforming and loading data from disparate sources;
• Evaluating and pre-processing raw information;
• Delving into data to discover discrepancies and patterns;
• Presenting and explaining information in an accessible way;
• Calculating KPI’s and Operational Indicators to establish Hospital goals and objectives;
• Directing and supporting the consistent implementation of company initiatives;
• Providing input to senior leadership in the development and administration team
• Taking initiative to discover information from raw data;
• Any other tasks assigned to the selected candidate by the Head of Department as and when required;

The successful candidates must:

• Be in possession of a Degree in a Computer Science related discipline with a strong GPA (3.5 or above) or have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Health Data Analytics;
• Have specific high level of knowledge of Object Oriented programming (preferably Java and Scala), SQL, OLAP and Data Mining techniques;
• Proficient in statistical programming and modelling. Knowledge of statistical software; and working with real-life large unstructured datasets for data analysis;
• Knowledge of the following would be an asset: Data Science, Big Data and its Technologies such as Hadoop (HDFS, NiFi, HBase, Kafka, Hive, Spark) or having a background in Biology/Chemistry;
• Be able to perform duties to a high and consistent level of output to meet deadlines under minimum supervision;
• Have excellent problem-solving skills;
• Be a team player and good communicator (verbal and written)
• Demonstrate ability to learn and adapt to new systems being implemented
